Eligibility Criteria and Benefits

"Take Five" - Benefits of Joining

Eligibility Criteria

Six college credits with a GPA of 3.5
Students must have at least six college credits and a GPA of 3.5 to be considered for PTK membership.
One time membership fee transfers to a Life-time Alumni status

Membership costs $90, which is a one-time fee for a lifetime membership. the breakdown of the costs is:

  • $60 for International Society
  • $15 for Rocky Moutain Cascade Regional
  • $15 for º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø-Omicron Xi Chapter

Scholarships are available to assist students with the financial burden of membership. Apply for scholarship through a º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø advisor located on this website.

The invitation is active until the last day of the semester it was received. If you do not accept membership by the date your invitation will expire. If you do not accept the membership initially, you will receive a new invitation each semester you are eligible. If you do not want to continue receiving, contact a º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø advisor located on this website.

Invitation from PTK Headquarters and our º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø college president

Each semester Omicron Xi Chapter invites all eligible students to become a member of PTK (Phi Theta Kapp).

Student receive an invitation in their º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø e-mail account the semester they met the eligibility requirements. For example, if you earn a cumulative college level 3.5 GPA in the Fall semester, you will receive an invitation in the Spring semester. Invitations are sent from the PTK Headquarters with a code to enroll on their website. º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø advisors will send and invitation form º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø as well so that you have a personal invite from us and so you do not disregard the e-mail as spam.

Induction Ceremony
The º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø-Omicron Xi Chapter will hold one formal and one semi formal ceremony each year as time permits for new members. The ceremony officially welcomes new members into the chapter and recognizes them for their academic success. In the fall student will receive their certificate with PTK seal. In the spring students will receive their stole, ropes, and medal to be properly dressed for graduation.

Omicron Xi Recognition Membership Levels

PTK Honor’s Bronze Level: 

  • Join and pay to get PTK Pin and t-shirt 
  • PTK Membership certificate with seal 
  • Recognition during chapter Induction Ceremony  
  • Letter of Recommendation from Headquarters 

PTK Honor’s Silver Level: 

  • Bronze plus 6 hours of participation/service/project 
  • Receive PTK stole, ropes, and medal for graduation 
  • Press release through º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø announcing PTK achievement 
  • Competitive Edge Level One 

PTK Honor’s Gold: 

  • Silver plus 12 hours 
  • Completive Edge Level Two 
  • Honors and Action or College project team participation 
  • Chapter Officer 
  • Receive appropriate medal for position 
  • Lesson in Leadership Course Scholarship 
  • Notation of membership on your transcript
