Career Technical Classes

High school students can build real-world skills and prepare for in-demand careers—while still in high school.

Career & Technical Education (CTE) at º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø focuses on hands-on, skills-based training for high-demand careers. These programs are part of º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Early College options and can be taken in different ways depending on your school and location.

How you can take CTE classes

  • At your high school – Take dual credit CTE courses using your school’s facilities, such as welding, agriculture, and automotive.
  • At º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø (UpLink Career Academy) – Attend half-day programs on º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø’s campus with access to specialized equipment and labs through the UpLink Career Academy.
  • Through SkillStack (formerly Tech Prep) – Earn credit by demonstrating job-ready skills through SkillStack.

Get started with CTE

  1. Talk to your high school counselor about available CTE or dual credit options.
  2. Explore programs like UpLink or SkillStack to find what fits your interests.
  3. Apply or enroll through your school or º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø.

Not sure where to start? Contact the Early College team and we’ll help you figure out your options.

Cost & travel

Many students can take CTE classes right at their high school using existing facilities. Others choose to attend º£½Ç³Ô¹ÏÍø part-time through programs like UpLink. Your options depend on your school, schedule, and goals.

Many CTE and dual credit classes are low-cost, and Idaho’s Advanced Opportunities funding may cover part or all of tuition.
